The Master's in Specialized Translation aims to train professional translators specializing in the main specialized languages of English, in order to meet the needs of today's world, which is increasingly marked by specialization on the one hand and globalization on the other. The constant exchanges and migratory flows that characterize our societies make it necessary to provide increasingly specific and high-level language training. The Master's degree therefore aims to offer a response to the demands that, as emerged from consultations with companies and entities of various kinds, come from the market in the field of specialized translation, offering an in-depth theoretical  and practical knowledge in the domains most in demand.

In order to be admitted to the selection candidates must holed:
a) Bachelor's degree
b) Master’s degree
c) Degrees awarded abroad and recognized as eligible under current regulations

The course is delivered entirely in e-learning modality and includes both live streaming activities (especially during the translation workshops) and asynchronous activities (course materials, assigned activities, participation in Forums).


Contents
The Master's program aims form professional translators in different specialized languages. Teaching activities are organized in modules. This means that materials will be uploaded to the online platform one module at a time and that students will likewise have access to the materials each Unit at a time.

The course as a whole is structured as follows (naturally, only some of the topics addressed during the course are indicated below):

Modules focused on specific languages are divided into asynchronous theoretical lectures (15 h.) and live streaming translation workshops (15 h.).


The Master's program also includes a 15 CFU internship (375 hours total), which can be carried out either in Italy or abroad. There will also be the possibility of in-house internships at the University of Parma's Language Centre. Should the trainee decide to complete the internship abroad, it is understood that the costs related to transportation, accommodation, etc. will be borne by the trainee.

In addition to the exams scheduled at the end of the various modules, students will have to submit a final dissertation (possibly related to the internship experience) focused on one of the specialized languages addressed during the course.
